The Consortium primarily works to assist organisations with institutionalizing responses to GBV. However, it has undertaken a small number of public events to raise awareness about GBV.
The Consortium’s advisor, Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, has spoken on a number of occasions, and the Consortium has hosted other experts in the field including: Dr Yakin Erturk, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women; Professor Charlotte Watts, the Sigrid Rausing Chair in Gender Violence and Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; and Everjoice Win, the International Head of Women’s Rights for Action Aid International. Broadcaster Claire Byrne, and journalist and author, Roisin Ingle have helped raise the profile of GBV through their involvement in Consortium events.
