Training is a key component of the institutionalisation of GBV responses within organisations. The aim of such training is to increase understanding and awareness of the issue so that staff respond appropriately to, and whereever possible, prevent incidents of gender based violence. Training on GBV may include the identification and challenging of traditional beliefs and cultural practices that facilitate, if not condone, gender based violence. Training may also be oriented to work within a specific sector or may be targeted at personnel working in a number of different sectors.
The following training materials provide guidance on the planning and facilitation of workshops on gender based violence and on ways to build existing structures and capacities within an organisation or community in order to improve prevention and response to GBV.
