To mark International Women’s Day 2008, Consortium representative Tendai Madondo of Christian Aid will co-facilitate a workshop on gender based violence (GBV) at the conference ‘Reimagining Women’s Human Rights’, hosted by Banulacht. The conference will take place on Friday 7th March at the Axis Centre, Ballymun, Dublin from 9.00 a.m. – 5.30p.m. The workshop is entitled ‘Gender Based Violence – a violation of women’s rights: local and global perspectives’.
Banulacht – Women in Ireland in Global Solidarity – holds an annual conference to celebrate International Women’s Day, March 8th. The conference is for women from community development and community education organisations, non-governmental organisations, national organisations, as well as individual women, feminist activists and all those interested in feminism and development from a local and a global perspective.
The conference aims to celebrate women’s activism locally and globally and offers a space for women to learn and to explore the challenges women face in working for change. Keynote speakers include Valerie O’Carroll, Amanda Khozi Mukwashi, Sarah Mukasa and Anne Marlborough. The GBV Consortium is delighted to have been invited by Banulacht to co-facilitate one of the six workshops at the conference.
